“Please join us for this comprehensive conference hosted by the Allan McGavin Sports Medicine Centre, highlighting the latest advances in Clinical Sports Medicine. This innovative CME-CPD program will provide a timely and clinically relevant update on selected topics in Sports Medicine. The learning objectives of this course are:
  • Discuss concussion in detail including initial diagnosis, role of imaging, optimizing symptom resolution, paediatric concerns, pharmacological options, return to play and link to chronic traumatic encephalopathy.
  • Provide an update in concussion based changes from the 4th Concussion Consensus Conference, Zurich 2012.
  • Outline a practical effective approach to anterior cruciate ligament injury prevention.
  • Review the principles of and indications for bike fit for the recreational cyclist.
  • Clarify how to assess overuse shoulder pain, manage frozen shoulder and screen the throwing athlete for predisposition to injury.
  • Describe the uses and common pitfalls of minimalistic shoes.
  • Highlight heart disease and exercise plus sudden cardiac death in sport.
  • Probe the use of platelet rich plasma injections in athletes.
  • Provide 5 keys to hip/groin pain assessment and management.”
